Receiving the Discount
We are excited to share that when we launch Go To Travel Campaign discounts through Airbnb, Guests will be able to book domestic trips at a discounted rate, on the condition that they accept the Go To Campaign Terms and Conditions. When the Campaign launches in mid-October, the discounted rates will be applied automatically at the time of booking. As part of the reimbursement application for these discounts, Airbnb will submit booking information to the Japanese government, the Japan Tourism Agency, and the Campaign Administrative Office. Please note that bookings made prior to the launch of automatic discounts in mid-October will not be eligible for discounts.
In order to apply discounts correctly for your booking, please enter the number of Guests accurately. Alterations to the number of Guests, or optional fees added after booking will not be eligible for the discount. Guests will need to cancel and rebook, and cancellation policies for the listing will apply.
Certain areas may be designated as exempt areas for the Go To Travel Campaign depending on the extent of the coronavirus outbreak. If your listing is located in an exclusion zone, all discounted reservations will be cancelled. If you wish to stay without the discount, you will need to make a new reservation.
About Regional Gift Vouchers
A voucher that can be used at eligible stores (souvenir shops, restaurants, tourist facilities, activities, transportation, etc.) for the duration of the trip in the prefecture of the destination and adjacent prefectures.
An amount equivalent to 15% of the trip cost is distributed to travelers as the regional gift voucher. If a fraction of less than 1,000 yen is included in the 15% of the travel price, the coupon is rounded off and a coupon of 1,000 yen is issued if the fraction is 500 yen or more. Coupons issued in increments of 1,000 yen per coupon and no change will be given.
How to use electronic coupons
There are two types of the regional gift voucher: paper coupons and electronic coupons, but Airbnb only offers "electronic coupons". There are three types of electronic coupons: 1,000 yen coupons, 2,000 yen coupons, and 5,000 yen coupons. Multiple vouchers can be redeemed in a single transaction.
Details on obtaining the electronic coupons will be updated as soon as they are announced by the Go To Travel Campaign Office.
Health and Safety Measures
To prevent the spread of coronavirus, the Campaign Administrative Office has issued the following guidelines for Guests:
・Prior to travelling, check your temperature and refrain from travelling if you have a fever or are experiencing cold-like symptoms. Please also use the contact tracing app.
・When traveling, observe the guidelines outlined in the "New Travel Etiquette". For example, avoid crowded places or facilities and refrain from speaking loudly or shouting.
・Follow instructions from the Host on temperature checks, ID verification, avoiding crowded areas, and other preventative measures. You may be disqualified from participating in the Campaign if you do not cooperate with these measures.
・Please refrain from traveling in large groups, groups of young people or groups of elderly people. According to public health guidelines, these groups are likely to increase the risk and spread of infection. While this will not disqualify any group automatically from participation in the program, extra care should be taken to ensure proper preventative measures are followed.
