This lively district is centered around the Virginia Commonwealth University Campus. Here you will find the Altria Theater where you can enjoy concerts and plays. This district is cultured with Queen Anne-style homes and beautiful Tudor Revival mansions. You can also find the Branch Museum of Architecture and Design (which offers tours) in this area.

The reason this is called The Fan is due to the neighborhood looking like a fan on a map. Houses are amazing and historic, and you will love walking the area with tree-lined streets

The Fan District is one of the most interesting areas in Richmond because of its unique architecture, restaurants, and local shops. Named for the fan-like layout of its streets, it runs westward from Belvedere Street, near Monroe Park, ending on the eastern side of the Boulevard. Predominantly a residential area, the Fan is a fun place to wander and admire the many styles of architecture from the mid-late 19th century, including Italianate, Queen Anne, Richardsonian Romanesque, and Colonial Revival. Homeowners in The Fan have entertainment at their fingertips with walkable parks, restaurants, shops, and museums
