A short drive to Chama will take you back in time as you jump on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad and enjoy the history of steam locomotives, or go kayaking at Heron Lake State Park only 20 minutes away.

Science Camp, founded midcentury on the Alamosa River, is surrounded by the San Juan national wilderness at 8600ft. We are a 15-mi drive on an unpaved road, off-grid with full plumbing, but NO electricity. We provide hot water, grill & stove, propane, firewood & emergency internet. You must PACK IN (BYO) ice, coolers, bedding, towels, flashlights & PACK OUT your trash. Heating is a fireplace. —Contact us for more details about our pet policy. Brookie on the Conejos

Our cabins are located directly on the Conejos River with everything you could need for your stay. In addition we have a beautiful pond stocked with trout. Catch and release barbless hook fly fishing is available by reservation on our river or pond separate from booking the cabin for an additional fee. PLEASE NOTE FISHING IS NOT AUTOMATICALLY INCLUDED. Get away and travel to paradise where you can enjoy our clean spacious cabin located 14 miles west of Antonito on Hwy 17, next to Conejos Ranch, easy access off highway, within 100 yards from Conejos River, beautiful mountain views, newly remodeled, clean, comfortable, peaceful, family friendly, fully furnished kitchen, electric heating in all rooms and a wood stove and firewood. Close access to Snowmobiling, X Country Skiing, Snowshoeing, hiking, fishing and other outdoor activities.

Spacious Amish built Log Cabin in the Woods

Spacious Amish built log cabin in the cottonwoods near the river on an Elk Ranch. Our all season cabin can accommodate couples, or groups up to 10, and serve as a home base or launching spot for the areas countless activities. Our stretch of private river is fly fishing only, catch and release barbless hook we charge a full day rod fee or a half day rod fee, this must be booked and prepaid ahead of time and is a separate charge from the Cabin. We also charge a $100 per pet fee.

Cowboy School House (High Plains Drift Inn)

Taste the 1800s in our western school house. Cowboy bunk-house style sleeping arrangement with 3 bunk beds. Also, an inviting kitchenette facility and spacious shower as well as solar lighting, USB charging ports, and a (modern) propane heater. Do the planet a favor and stay at our environmentally friendly, off grid solar powered, largely self sustaining ranch. Ranch Café on site serving hearty homestyle cowboy cooking, by reservation only. We can also provide horse rides.

Rocky Mountains surround you in this beautiful 2-bedroom 1-bath cabin. Its off grid, but with modern amenities including star link internet. The property borders the Cumbres and Toltec Railway with a front porch view of the train during train season! Its a short walk to fishing and hiking in the Rio Grande National Forest. This four-season cabin can be especially enjoyable as a cozy retreat once snow flies and can be accessed by snowmobile, XC skis or snowshoes!
