This is one of our favorite restaurants in Midland. They offer weekly meal plans too if you find yourself staying here more longterm and need help prepping healthy meals. They have traditional options and keto options if you're watching the carbs, too.
I find their hummus to be particularly delicious. My go-to order recommendation is the combo shawarma over biryani rice with hummus, a side order of falafels with an order of tzatziki, an order of pita, a side of dolmas, a chai tea (hot or iced depending on the weather), and baklava for dessert... it's a feast!

Texas in synonymous with BBQ. When we first moved here, we were sadly disappointed at the lack of high quality, authentic Texas BBQ in the area. Who wants to drive 3+ hours just to get some good BBQ lunch?! No thanks!
Thankfully, Up In Smoke opened not long ago and has filled the void of quality BBQ options in the Permian Basin. Everything is delicious here. You can't go wrong if you're craving authentic Texas flavor.

DELICIOUS pies!!! Seriously, they don't make a bad pie! Our favorite is the key lime (& I'm not typically a key lime fan personally) and their apple pie. Their 4-inch pies are my favorite: just enough for a taste without having to buy a whole pie.

If you're looking for gluten-free, paleo, keto, vegan, or other diet-/health-friendly options, this is the market to visit. They have the more specialized, "health food" brands you won't find at H-E-B (though H-E-B does have some of the larger "health food" brands too for a better price).

There's a lot of flat land in Midland. This is some of the prettier flat land if you're looking for something outdoorsy to do. There's a little visitor's center and walking trails.

If the Permian's lack of trees is starting to get to you and make you feel a bit loopy (I've SO been there!!), the Wildlife Preserve is the place to retreat to (weather permitting). Maybe bring a picnic and enjoy being outdoors amongst the trees, marshes and wildlife. There's often great bird watching here too.

The Permian Basin Petroleum Museum is a great place to learn all about what Midland (and, by extension, Texas as a whole) is famous for: oil! Great for school-aged children and up.

If you want to get out of town a bit and experience the West Texas landscape, Monahans Sandhills State Park has some cool sand dunes that are great for photography, sand sledding and hiking/picnics (weather permitting).
