Beaches
Here is some information about a few of our favourite beaches in the area.
The Cornwall County Council website has useful information about beach safety, which beaches have lifeguards during high season and the dates that they patrol the beaches. Please be aware that currents can be strong and unpredictable.
This is a beautiful beach and usually much quieter than many others in the area. To walk to Portheras Cove, turn right out of the drive and join the coast path just after the lighthouse. There is a short-cut across the field, which is signposted. There is no lifeguard and there is some climbing over rocks

Portheras Cove

Boat Cove is a small beach (especially at high tide) which is sometimes used for launching small fishing boats. To walk to boat cove, turn right out of the drive and join the coast path just after the lighthouse. There is no life guard and access is via a steep slope.

A 20 minute drive away, towards Land’s End, Sennen in a large and popular beach. It is a good spot for families. There is a car park next to the beach and lifeguards on duty during the day in high season. There is a cafe on the beach and other pubs and cafes within walking distance.

30 mins away by car, on the South coast Porthurno is a beautiful beach, overlooked by the famous Minack Theatre. The beach is a short walk from the car park. There are lifeguards on duty during the day in high season. The car park is cash only.

30 mins by car, just past St Ives, Carbis bay is a long stretch of beautiful sand with a restaurant and bar on the beach. Very popular with families. There are lifeguards on duty during the day in high season (from July - September). Parking is a short but steep walk from the beach.
