Find a Country Feel in the City with Rural Views

Sit out in the backyard then come indoors to relish leafy views from a triple-aspect living room. The apartment has a cottage feel with window boxes and wooden fittings. A hanging plant, and white linens provide a calming feeling. Awake to the songs of birds and explore our 1/2 acre of fruit trees, vegetable beds, and landscape. Yet most of San Diego’s attractions are just 5 to 10 miles away. The new kitchen is included in your space so you can prepare your own meals if desired. Cooking equipment included are a convection toaster oven, coffee maker, hot pot, a microwave, and an induction plate, pots & pans, kitchen tools, cutlery and dishes. We also provide coffee, tea, sugar, salt & pepper, cooking oil, and ice. This space is attached to our main home but you’ll have your own separate entrance and private kitchen/ living, bed and bath. We'd love to greet you and show you around when you arrive, but if we happen to miss you will have your own unique door code to get in. We’ve prepared a binder of information for guests and can help you plan for best use of your time. However if you prefer to be on your own we’re fine with that too. We have walked to downtown or to the nearest trolley, but unless you are walkers and out for exercise, you will probably want a car. There are now lots of bikes available for rent, but it will be uphill to get back to the house. Some of our guests have chosen to rely only on Uber, in which case grocery and/or meal delivery are helpful. If you have an afternoon or evening flight you are welcome to store luggage at our house after your 10 AM check out. We are in a hilly residential area with stores, restaurants and bus/ trolley access about 2 miles away, so you'll have the most flexibility if you come by car. If you choose to Uber, you can order groceries or takeout meals to be delivered.

Breezy private studio in La Jolla

A pagoda style private studio that is breezy with an ocean view. It is walking distance to the village of La Jolla and the world renowned Cove Beach. The house was built in the early 1920’s by a woman who did missionary work in Asia and was fascinated by the architecture. It is nestled at the foot of Country Club Drive in a quiet residential neighborhood and is very close to an excellent selection of bars and restaurants that are about a 10-20 minute walk away. Our La Jolla 1400 ft oceanfront suite with floor to ceiling sliding doors opens to a private spa, dining table, bar area and kitchen facilities. A king bed, 85" TV and fireplace with a 260 sq. ft bathroom. Flaming sunsets and moonlight silvering the ocean are yours. Pristine tide pools are accessed from the park next door. Blocks away, Garnet nightlife is wild. Walk to Wayfarers bakery or Paradisea restaurant. Make pizza here. Watch the ospreys! No blinds yet, but no one can ever see you.

MIKE'S PLACE - A PRIVATE COTTAGE

The cottage features full amenities that include: Tempurpedic™ queen-size bed. Wi-Fi, Smart TV, air conditioning, refrigerator, microwave, wet bar, coffee maker, toaster, and iron. Window seat for sitting, reading or lounging. Private entrance and patio connecting to a courtyard and Japanese garden. Spacious bathroom with 12 foot high tiled shower. French doors open to a private sitting area. If the days are booked in the cottage we might have an opening at, Mikes House and Garden.

If you’d rather stay in and enjoy the views, relax on the patio, soak in the hot tub, or have a drink by the fire pit with your fur baby.

Less than 15 min drive to all of the best San Diego has to offer. Walking distance to Ocean Beach (~1 mi), a funky beach town with its own casual style. Room is "hotel style" with private entrance, small patio, bed, bath, fridge and microwave; no access to main house.

The room has a private entrance. It's ideally located in a residential area of Ocean Beach. 5 blocks to the beach, OB pier, and 2 blocks to village life, shops & restaurants. It has a queen bed, a small private bathroom with a shower, a fridge, TV, Wifi, microwave, etc. Guests will love the location and privacy! Beach chairs, towels, umbrellas, etc. are available for your enjoyment. Enjoy the great ocean view from the backyard.
