Need a break from the beach? Want to reconnect with nature? Vereen Gardens is the place to go. The walking/biking trails are beautifully kept. There are picnic areas if you decide to stay for lunch.

This is an 115-acre nature preserve with boardwalks, and you ca walk by a Civil War Cemetary!

This public park is filled with birds, including a pair of great horned owls and beavers. It is always an amazing place to visit. There are nice marked trails and a park for children and boardwalk.

Vereen Memorial Gardens is beautiful, scenic spot! The trails lead through the woods, over the marsh boardwalks, and out to the intracoastal waterway. It's a really fun day hike and as the South Carolina Trails site calls it, a "hidden jewel.
