The Angel of Independence, most commonly known by the shortened name El Ángel and officially known as Monumento a la Independencia ("Monument to Independence"), is a victory column on a roundabout on the major thoroughfare of Paseo de la Reforma in downtown Mexico City.

The Angel of Independence and the whole Paseo de la Reforma (Reforma Avenue) is a must if you are visiting Mexico City. Since it was built in 1865, it was called the mexican Champs Elysee and it is actually way bigger than the original Champs Elysee. It has monuments, restaurants, boutiques, sculptures, fountains, etc.
